The Santa Barbara girls team continued to thrive with freshman Olivia Fanaro leading the way.
The Dons kept all their scores under 50 — led by Fanaro’s 44 — and were three shots off their season low in a 236-248 win over Buena at par-35 Buena Ventura GC on Tuesday.
The victory pushes Santa Barbara’s record to 8-1, the best start that coach Ryan Throop has seen in his five years of coaching. The win also puts the Dons at 2-0 in the Channel League with a matchup against San Marcos set for Thursday at Montecito Country Club.
Sophomore Sarah Kirkwood enjoyed an all-time low on Tuesday with a 46. Fanaro and Kirkwood were followed up by Lexi Ortega’s 48 and Kylie Wagner and Thia Laurain’s equal 49.
Thursday’s match against San Marcos starts at 2:30 p.m.
