Dos Pueblos coach Jeff Uyesaka said his Chargers “got beat by a better team” on Friday night, losing their first game of the season 27-13 on a visit to the Tigers of San Luis Obispo.
“It wasn’t quite a mauling like it might seem,” he pointed out. “We didn’t have our game plan put together well enough. We had some opportunities.”
Junior linebacker Shane Taylor had “a gang of tackles,” according to Uyesaka, who also praised the play of running backs Dane Limosnero and Anthony Houston as well as quarterback Jack Johnson.
Despite the loss, Uyesaka said that it was important for his team to play a strong opponent to start things off.
The Chargers are on the road again in week two and will play another tough team, paying a visit to the Cabrillo Conquistadores up in Lompoc.
