After losing in close matches to Santa Margarita over the years, the Dos Pueblos girls netters broke through with a 10-8 win Saturday despite missing two starters. Shelbi Nigh came up from the JV squad and won her first varsity set, while the Chargers’ top guns — Erica Cano in singles and Amy Logan/Amy Sagraves in doubles — swept their sets handily.
Oriane Matthys fought through a sore shoulder to rally from a 4-1 deficit along with doubles partner Nicoletta Bradley against the Eagles’ No. 1 doubles duo. Anna Slyutova and Melissa Dahl also won a set for DP (2-0).
”All the conditioning and determination paid off in this match,” said coach Liz Frech.
