Brandon Cowan scored with 2:30 remaining and Hunter Ploch made a save on a shot from an All-CIF 2-meter man with 30 seconds left as Santa Barbara High’s water polo team beat Servite 7-6 Thursday in the South Coast Tournament.
For the Dons (6-1), it was the second one-goal decision of the year over the Friars. Cowan had a pair of goals, as did Ian Gamble. Santa Barbara drubbed Long Beach Poly 10-2 in its first game of the day thanks to four scores from Paul Davis.
Santa Barbara plays Corona del Mar in the Sea Kings’ pool on Friday as the prestigious tournament continues.
