Just a day after winning a match by two strokes, the Santa Barbara High girls golf team ended up on the other end of a close one, this time a 249-261 loss to Santa Ynez at par-36 Montecito Country Club.
“It’s a pretty tough course and Santa Ynez is strong this year. Their only two losses are to DP and Righetti, which are two of the strongest programs in our area,” said coach Ryan Throop.
Santa Ynez’s Blake Colvin earned medalist honors with a 46, while Olivia Fanaro led the Dons with a 49.
“I usually like to see our scores a little lower, around 250,” said Throop. “But we start league next week, and that’s what really matters.
Santa Barbara is now 5-1, while the Pirates improve to 4-2.
