The Cate Rams put up a good effort, but the small school from Carpinteria was no match for Channel League contender Dos Pueblos on Saturday afternoon in a 16-2 non-league victory for the Chargers.
Dos Pueblos only dropped one set in doubles and one in singles.
No. 1 Erica Cano and No. 2 Lauren Stratman swept their sets and No. 3 Hayley Edwards won two sets and almost had a third. Edwards took Cate’s No. 1 singles player Ariella Kubetschek into a tiebreaker but Kubetschek prevailed.
In doubles, the Charger regulars got the job done as duos Amy Logan-Amy Sagraves, Melissa Dahl-Anna Slyutova and Oriane Matthys-Nicoletta Bradley didn’t touch the loss column.
Dos Pueblos improves to 7-1 on the year (2-0 Channel League) while Cate falls to 2-2.
