Coach Dwayne Hauschild was having trouble trying to find an explanation.
At least a literal one.
“It’s that old proverbial ‘we didn’t get off the bus’ thing, but we caravaned down, so I don’t know,” he said.
Whatever it was, the Dos Pueblos girls volleyball team couldn’t cap off its impressive march to the final of the Dave Mohs Tournament on Monday, falling to Orange Lutheran 25-18, 25-17.
“I wish I knew what was up. I just think we weren’t loose and we weren’t comfortable,” said Hauschild.
The Lancers, on the other hand, played the same style that helped them knock out Santa Barbara on Saturday: more energy and better defense.
“It really wasn’t what they had offensively,” said Hauschild. “They just played clean… We’ve been playing defense all week, but I think somebody left it in their bag last night.”
Caitlin Racich and Carly Wopat were named all-tournament selections, and the coach said that Paige Crane did a nice job setting, [articularly in handling bad passes.
DP (8-2) opens up Channel League play at Ventura on Thursday.
