Westmont Women's Basketball, ranked at number 20 in the NAIA Preseason Coaches Poll, started Golden State Athletic Conference play in grand style on Tuesday night at Murchison Gymnasium. DECATUR, Ala — Facing a familiar opponent in the second round of the NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament, No. 14 Westmont played to a 2-2 tie against No. 5 Point Loma Nazarene through two overtime periods. Unfortunately Point Loma advances to the quarterfinals by virtue of winning penalty kicks 2-1. The Crimson Storm of No. 11 Southern Nazarene (Okla.) handed Westmont Women's Basketball (5-1) its first loss of the season, outscoring the Warriors 58-54 in a game characterized by streaks. After falling behind by 11 points in the second half, Westmont Men's Basketball (4-1) rallied on the road to post a 76-69 win over the Bulldogs of the University of Redlands (0-3) on Tuesday night.Preston Branson led the Warriors in scoring with 25 points, making seven of 13 from the field. The No. 14-ranked Westmont women’s soccer team (12-16) has received an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. The Warriors will play at No. 13 Cal State San Marcos on Saturday, November 19.
