Mayer sets meet record on first day of Easter Relays

SBCC’s Kelly Mayer used positive thinking to set a meet record in the 74th annual Easter Relays track and field meet on Friday at La Playa Stadium.The collegiate competition of the Easter Relays was Friday, with the high school athletes taking over La Playa Stadium on Saturday. SBCC’s Instebo places 3rd at Cuesta Invite

Cecilia Instebo took third at the season-opening Cuesta Invitational on Friday, leading the SBCC women’s cross country team to a fifth-place finish. She was clocked in 20:50.Harley Arce was 12th for the Vaqueros in 22:01. Hartnell won the team title with 37 points. Health and fitness.Those are the keys to success for the SBCC track and field teams, according to Scott Fickerson."We need to keep everyone healthy and train hard on a daily basis," said the Vaqueros' second-year head coach. Moreno, Rigney lead SBCC runners in Bakersfield

Mark Moreno captured the top prize for the SBCC men's cross country squad and Seanie Rigney led the women to a first-place finish on Friday at the Bakersfield Invitational.Moreno, a sophomore from Chino, topped a field of 96 runners with a 21:03 clocking on the 4-mile course.
