SBCC placed third in Western State Conference Supremacy for the 2010-11 athletic season.The Vaqueros won WSC titles in women’s volleyball, baseball and softball. Ventura earned five conference championships to capture its 13th straight WSC Supremacy title with 99 points.Canyons edged Santa Barbara for second place by a half-point (78 to 77.5). After leading SBCC to the state playoffs in his first season at the helm, Armen Zakarian has been honored as the WSC men’s volleyball co-Coach of the Year.Zakarian, a former SBCC and UCSB standout, shared the award with El Camino’s Richard Blount. With a lineup that featured many reserves, SBCC fell 3-0 at Moorpark in its WSC men’s volleyball finale on Friday night. Someone jokingly told Jenn Waddill that her SBCC women‘s volleyball team should drive to Ventura and back just to make it feel like another road match prior to Tuesday‘s home opener in the Sports Pavilion.The Vaqueros opted to remain on campus and proceeded to sweep Bakersfield 25-11, 25-18, 25-19 for their eighth win in nine outings.
