City College got a taste of smashmouth football from county rival Hancock on Saturday night and the Vaqueros took some lumps in the process.The Bulldogs dominated the line of scrimmage and piled up 359 yards rushing in rolling to a 42-6 nonconference win in the season opener for both teams Saturday night at Righetti High. SBCC built a 2-0 lead on Friday night in the opening round of the Mt. SAC men's soccer tournament, then settled for a 2-2 tie with Santa Ana in Walnut.Ryan McGavigan, a freshman forward from England, scored in the 44th minute on an assist from Danny Molineaux. Preventing goals wasn't a problem for the SBCC women's soccer team last year. Scoring was another matter.The Vaqueros featured the No. 2 defense in the state, allowing just nine goals.
