Dons bounced from playoffs in heartbreaking overtime loss

Defending CIF champion Cate leads four local boys soccer teams into the CIF playoffs.The Rams (14-1-1) open the Division 7 playoffs at home on Thursday against Newbury Park Adventist.In Division 1, San Marcos and Santa Barbara both travel for their first-round matches on Thursday. Soccer is normally all about plays made with the feet. The Santa Barbara Dons had none of that on Tuesday, scoring the only goal of the game without the ball touching anyone's boots.The Dons recorded a 1-0 Channel League win over San Marcos on a play that started with a 25-yard throw-in from senior Jelan Hutton. Dons dominate second half to get win in Channel League opener

Dos Pueblos and Santa Barbara met at the Buena Tournament for the second year in a row on Friday, with the Dons getting the better go of it with a 1-0 result.Both teams won games earlier in the day to advance to the 5th place game.
