Breakers open WCBL season with tribute to Ward

Taylor leads Breakers to tournament title

The Santa Barbara Breakers were victorious in claiming the "Who's Next" Classic Basketball Tournament held over the weekend in Lynwood, California. Ten teams from across California competed during the two-day event.The Breakers had an easy time in game one, trouncing the Hollywood Aztecs 122-61 led by Tim Taylors 29 points.In Game 2, the Breakers battled new WCBL-entry foe Nation-Wide All-Stars throughout the contest, trailing 48-42 at the half. Breakers victorious in Labor Day Classic

The Santa Barbara Breakers were successful over the weekend winning their Breakers Labor Day Classic with a 104-67 shellacking of the EBL Stars (Entertainment Basketball League) and an 88-73 thumping of the Hollywood Hooptainers.In the 104-67 win, Tournament MVP Josh Stanhiser (7'1 center) scored 15 points; 16 rebounds, dominating the inside at both ends of the floor. The Santa Barbara Breakers celebrated their home opener at the Sports Pavilion with a come-from-behind 108-94 victory over the visiting Marina del Rey Advantage.Former South Carolina Gamecock Bryce Sheldon tallied a game-high 28 points for the Breakers, hitting on 5-of-8 3-point attempts.
