Neushul takes over UCSB women’s water polo

UCSB's men’s water polo team dropped a defensive battle by the score of 8-6 to No. 4 Stanford Sunday afternoon at Campus Pool. MALIBU  - The seventh-ranked UCSB men's water polo team has spent most of its Labor Day weekend playing a series of scrimmages at UCLA and Pepperdine, but between the exhibitions, the Gauchos squeezed in their season-opener against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Sunday afternoon at Pepperdine's Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool. Coaches rank UCSB 7th in water polo poll

UCSB is ranked seventh in the country in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Coaches Preseason Poll.The Gauchos, who return All-Americans Milos Golic and Zsombor Vincze,  were picked to finish sixth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.MPSF powers Cal, UCLA, Stanford, USC and Irvine were ranked first through fifth in the national and MPSF polls. Golic named to second MPSF First Team

UCSB junior Milos Golic earned his second consecutive First Team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honor it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.Golic led UCSB and the conference in scoring for the second consecutive season. The native of Belgrade, Serbia tallied a total of 77 goals this year and averaged 2.75 per game. Sami Hill, the outstanding goalie for the Dos Pueblos High girls water polo team, has made a commitment to play her college ball at UCLA.Hill's stellar play in the cage has been instrumental in the Chargers winning  back-to-back CIF Southern Section championships.
