Santa Barbara’s Lakey Peterson has made it to the big leagues of professional surfing.Peterson has earned one the coveted 17 spots on the ASP Women’s World Tour for 2012. The World Tour is the elite professional competition for women.Peterson learned of the selection on Wednesday. Going for her third straight title, Santa Barbara’s Lakey Peterson ran out of time and came up short against fellow Southern Californian Courtney Conlogue in the final of the Sri Lankan Airlines Pro ASP Women’s 6-Star contest on Sunday at Arugam Bay.Peterson landed a huge air-reverse on her last wave, but it came just after the siren sounded to end the competition. Lakey Peterson has capped off a perfect season by winning the ASP 6-Star Supergirl Pro Junior in peaky two-to-four foot waves at Oceanside Pier on Saturday, marking her third consecutive ASP Pro Junior win and solidifying her second consecutive ASP North America Pro Junior Title.Peterson took to her backhand in the final and led the heat through its entirety.
