Hallock apologizes for criticism of officials after loss to Nordhoff

Carpinteria football coach Ben Hallock offered an apology to game officials during his presentation at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.Hallock criticized officials in the press following his Warriors’ 34-24 loss at Nordhoff on Friday that cost them an ouright Tri-Valley League championship.Nordhoff scored the go-ahead touchdown in the last two minutes. Cabrillo runs away with season opener against San Marcos

Dale Perizzolo was named interim head football coach at San Marcos.

Public service for Hess on Monday at San Marcos

A community remembrance for football coach and teacher Jeff Hesselmeyer is set for Monday, Aug. 8 at San Marcos High, the school announced.The event will be held at 6 p.m. at the San Marcos Greek Theatre in the middle of the campus.Hesselmeyer passed away at his home on July 23. A private service for local high school football coach and teacher Jeff Hesselmeyer is scheduled this weekend at Santa Barbara Cemetary.A public memorial service is planned in the next two weeks, said San Marcos athletic director Abe Jahadhmy. If  it turns out that Jeff Hesselmeyer died of a heart attack, it is the  saddest of ironies. San Marcos football coach Hesselmeyer dies suddenly

Jeff Hesselmeyer led San Marcos to a 4-6 record last year, including a 35-13 victory over Santa Barbara in the "Big Game."

San Marcos football coach Jeff Hesselmeyer passed away suddenly late Friday night or early Saturday at his home, the school reported.The cause of death is believed to be a heart attack, but it hasn't been confirmed.“It’s a real shock,” said athletic director Abe Jahadhmy, who received the news while on vacation in Washington D.C.Jahadhmy said he last saw Hesselmeyer before he left on his trip on Tuesday night.“I was told he was at work on Friday,” Jahadhmy … [Read more...]
