Mari Solis of the Santa Barbara SC GU16 White team has been on an amazing adventure and returned a better, stronger more experienced player and person as a result.Mari was invited to join the Mexican National Team program on a try-out basis. She made the final 25 but unfortunately not the final squad. Leo Cuellar, Mexico head coach, has requested that Mari remain in the path for recruitment. All-Academic CIF teams heavy with local schools

Sports teams from San Marcos, Santa Barbara High and Dos Pueblos received All-Academic CIF distinctions from the Southern Section, it was announced this week.In total, Dos Pueblos was named six times, San Marcos twice and Santa Barbara High once. That means local schools took 9 of the 22 first-place opportunities amongst schools with enrollments larger than 1500. The teams with the highest collective GPA in each sport receive the award. Dos Pueblos' first-round CIF victory came with heavy hearts on Friday, as the Chargers defeated Royal 2-1 on the birthday of Lindsay Rose, who tragically passed away after a surfing accident in April of 2009.
