Cate dedicates playoff victory to Colin Day

Defending CIF champion Cate leads four local boys soccer teams into the CIF playoffs.The Rams (14-1-1) open the Division 7 playoffs at home on Thursday against Newbury Park Adventist.In Division 1, San Marcos and Santa Barbara both travel for their first-round matches on Thursday. Cate senior Jack Langan had a breakout game in the final regular season boys soccer game on Tuesday against Laguna Blanca.Langan scored two goals and added an assist for the first points of his career in a 7-0 Condor League win.Freshman Daniel Rodriguez also scored his first goal, running up from his position as left back. Avery Schwartz netted two goals and set up another in Cate's 4-0 victory over Thacher on Saturday.The victory gave the Rams their third straight Condor League title.Shuta Kobayashi lifted Cate to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute on an assist from junior Ema Boateng.
