Shooting a score close to par was quite an accomplishment on the second day of the 52nd annual Santa Barbara City Golf Championship.Golfers struggled with windy conditions all afternoon on Sunday at the Santa Barbara Golf Club. Former Santa Barbara High star Andrew Perez won medalist honors to lead College of the Desert to the team championship at the Southern Cal Men’s Golf Regional on Monday at Bermuda Dunes CC.Perez fired rounds of 68 and 76 for an even-par 144, beating Matt Sobczak of Hancock (36-36) by two shots.Desert won the 10-team compettion with 756 strokes, 36 over par. Johnny Ruiz carded back-to-back rounds of 67 over the weekend to capture this year's Goleta City Championship at Glen Annie Golf Club.Ruiz, a 17-year-old from Carpinteria, was playing at a level all by himself.
