Scarvelis wins CIF Division 2 shot put title

She wasn’t having her best day of throwing, but Dos Pueblos sophomore Stamatia Scarvelis kept her composure and uncorked a mark of 45-3 to win the Division 2 shot put title at the CIF Divisional Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College.Scarvelis’ mark was the third best of all divisions and it earned her a spot in next weekend’s CIF Masters state qualifying meet. Scarvelis tosses California-best throw at Prelims

Dos Pueblos had a number of quality performances at Saturday's Division 2 CIF Prelims at Moorpark College, but none bigger than Stamatia Scarvelis' winning shot put throw.Scarvelis, a sophomore, threw 49 feet, 5.5 inches to win the event with the best throw in the state so far this season. Final race leads Royals to a one-point victory

DP’s Miller coaching another standout distance runner in Zerrenner

The San Marcos swimming team paid a visit to Harry's on Monday for the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.

Dos Pueblos distance runner Addi Zerrenner headlined the Santa Barbara County Track & Field Championships on Saturday by setting two meet records at Carpinteria Valley Memorial Stadium.Zerrenner shattered the record in the 3200 meter by 11 seconds with a new standard of 10:44.18. Dos Pueblos' boys track & field team edged Buena on Thursday by a single point while the girls team won by a wider margin at 93-37.The boys meet was scored 64-63 in Dos Pueblos' favor.A chunk of the Charger boys' points came in the 100 meters, which was swept by Jordan Degraffinreid (11.69), John Norris (12.03) and LeShon Bell (12.04). Dos Pueblos' Stamatia Scarvelis beat the shot put stadium record at Oaks Christian by three feet during competition at the Maurice Greene Invitational on Saturday.Scarvelis won both the discus (126'0") and shot put (45'7.75").
