Spencer Wood led a trio of 12 year olds as top 10 finishers in the 1-kilometer ocean swim at Tuesday’s Reef and Run Series at East Beach.Wood came in third place behind local triathletes Johannes Walcher (16:20) and J. Ritterbeck (18:07) in a time of 18:13. At 74 years young, Jeff Farrell can swim faster than many people.The two-time Olympic gold medalist finished ahead of 20 swimmers in the 1-kilometer ocean swim at the Reef and Run Series Tuesday night at East Beach. Jon Clark tuned up to defend his Semana Nautica Biathlon title this weekend by winning Tuesday night’s Santa Barbara Reef and Run Series duathalon at East Beach.Tuesday's event was part of the Semana Nautica summer sports festival.Clark, 50, a multi-time winner of the biathlon, covered the 1k swim and 5k run in 38 minutes, 56 seconds. Stewart Reid made it 2-for-2 in the Reef and Run mile swim on Tuesday night at East Beach.Reid finished first in 19 minutes, 14 seconds, beating Chris Braden by five seconds. Stewart Reid, a multi-winner last year, captured the first mile swim at the season-opener of the Santa Barbara Reef and Run Series at East Beach on Tuesday.Reid finished in 18 minutes, 50 seconds in the chilly water. He won seven mile swims last year.
