Spieler sisters earn AAA beach rating in Hermosa

Local sisters Cara and Katie Spieler won this weekend's California Beach Volleyball Association AA Tournament in Hermosa Beach to earn an AAA-rating — the highest achievable.Cara, 19, played for Jon Lee at San Marcos and now plays for Tufts University in Boston. On Saturday in Anaheim, the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club 12-Smack team won all of its matches in pool play to place first for the day and move up to Division V. The Page Youth Center/Santa Barbara Spikers Boys Volleyball Club finished the Junior National Qualifier with the U-16 team earning a bid for the Open Division for the Junior National Championships in Austin, Texas in July 2010.
