SBSC’s Daugherty swims into record book

James Daugherty of the Santa Barbara Swim Club shattered the Southern California record in the 11-12 boys 200-meter breaststroke Thursday at the Northern American Challege Cup in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.Daugherty, 12, was timed in 2 minutes, 34.45 seconds. Nguyen takes gold in Junior Olympics 200 fly

Janelle Nguyen won the 16-over 200 butterfly at the Southern California Swimming Junior Olympics in Thousand Oaks.

Janelle Nguyen of the Santa Barbara Aquatics Club won the 200 butterfly at the Southern California Swimming Junior Olympics at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks on Wednesday.Nguyen was time in 2:20.58. S.B. Swim Club sending 8 athletes to sectional finals

Eight members of the Santa Barbara Swim Club are headed to the Southern California Summer Sectional Championships in Clovis.The six-day meet starts Wednesday and runs through July 25.The swimmers qualified in a variety of events from the 50 to 1500 freestyle, and in every stroke.The team members competing are Walker Bell, Dasha Depew, Emily Swindle, Emro Williams, Ali Powell, Olivia Smith, Maelyn Adornetto and Madison Faulkner.  They are coached by John Dussliere. SBSC lands three members on SoCal All-Star team

Three members of the Santa Barbara Swim Club earned spots on an all-star team that will compete in an international meet in Mexico in August.Olivia Smith, Maelyn Adornetto and James Daugherty qualified for the Southern California Swimming All-Stars at meets last weekend.
