The Santa Barbara Riptide 11u baseball team participated in its first tournament last weekend in Oxnard. The Riptide is comprised of 11 year olds ranging from Santa Barbara to Santa Maria.The Riptide took the field in their first ever contest against the Westlake Stars. The Santa Ynez Heat won the inaugural Maple Bat Tournament.

Last weekend the 14u Santa Barbara Riptide Baseball team cruised to its 5th tournament championship in its last seven tournaments.The Riptide won the championship in comeback fashion by beating a very tough Mac Baseball team 9-6.With the Riptide trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the 5th, Luke Coffey lead off the inning with a double to deep centerfield. The Santa Ynez Heat went undefeated and captured the championship at the Dare 2 Dream Fall Classic in Paso Robles.

The Santa Ynez Heat pounded out 48 hits and scored 47 runs to win first-place honors in the 16-and-under division at the Dare 2 Dream Fall Classic Baseball Tournament in Paso Robles over the Labor Day weekend.The Heat’s roster includes top players from all over Santa Barbara County — Santa Ynez, Santa Barbara, Lompoc and Orcutt—as well as from Atascadero and Paso Robles.
