Santa Barbara youth softball player Hailee Rios tossed a perfect game in a club tournament last Sunday.Rios, pitching for the Camarillo VC Venom ’99, threw an 8-0 victory against Rip-It of La Crescenta. She struck out eight while retiring all 15 batters in the five-inning game.VC Venom scored all eight runs in the fourth inning. The Easter Relays Youth Track Meet, slated for Sunday, March 25 at La Playa Stadium, has been cancelled by rain.It will not be rescheduled.Originally scheduled for last weekend, the youth meet was postponed to this weekend due to last week's wet weather. A year and a half of preparation is nearly complete for Santa Barbara Soccer Club's Boys U12 White team, which leaves for England on Friday to train and compete with some of the world's largest professional soccer clubs.A highlight will come on March 28th when the U12 Whites play against Manchester United's development team at the club's world-famous training facility following a tour of the Old Trafford Stadium. The 75th annual Easter Relays Youth Track Meet at SBCC's La Playa Stadium has been postponed by rain. It was originally scheduled for Sunday.The new date is next Sunday, March 25 at La Playa Stadium.The dates for the Easter Relays high school meet and college meet remain the same. Teetering on relegation, the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club’s 15-Smack went 2-1 in the playoffs and finished 10th at a Southern California Volleyball Association tournament in San Diego to remain in Division 1.Santa Barbara went 1-2 in pool play, forcing it into the “death match” playoff round. SB UNITED ADVANCES AYSO Under-12 boys soccer team, SB United, went undefeated in the AYSO Sectional Playoffs in Bakersfield this past weekend to qualify for the 2012 AYSO State Championship in Palm Springs on March 17 and 18.In the final game, SB United had to overcome an early 0-2 deficit to force overtime, and eventually won on penalty kicks. … [Read more...]
