STANFORD — The Santa Barbara volleyball community and Dos Pueblos High are mourning the passing of Samantha “Sam” Wopat.Wopat, a two-time All-CIF volleyball player at Dos Pueblos and a member of the women’s volleyball team at Stanford, died Sunday at Stanford Hospital, the university announced Monday. Karina Evans is going back to the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament with the University of Delaware.Evans, a sophomore middle blocker from Dos Pueblos, helped the Blue Hens win their second straight Colonial Athletic Association tournament title with a five-set win over Virginia Commonwealth.The Blue Hens trailed 2-1 before winning the last two sets to earn an automatic NCAA Tournament berth. Laguna Blanca's girls volleyball couldn't shake St. Paul in the second round of the Division 4-AA CIF playoffs on Thursday, falling in five sets 18-25, 25-15, 15-25, 25-22, 15-11.Amanda Harvey and Makenzie Scarborough reached double-digit kills for the Owls, who finish their season with an 8-4 record and a Condor League title.
