UCSB's suffocating defense made Sean Castillo's fourth-quarter goal stand up in a stunning 5-4 men's water polo victory over No. 2 Stanford at Campus Pool on Sunday. The No. 7 UCSB men’s water polo team preserved its perfect home record on Saturday with a 13-12 overtime win in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation contest with No. 10 Long Beach State at Campus Pool. It took seven overtime periods, but the No. 8 UCSB men’s water polo team upset No. 7 UC San Diego on Friday afternoon at the Gauchos’ Campus Pool. In front of a boisterous home crowd, the No. 8 UCSB men's water polo team defeated No. 9 UC Irvine, 13-12, in sudden-victory overtime on Saturday afternoon at Campus Pool. The No. 7 UC Santa Barbara men's water polo team dropped a pair of closely contested games on Sunday to finish eighth at the 2008 SoCal Tournament being hosted this weekend by Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount.  The seventh-ranked UC Santa Barbara men's water polo split two contests on the first day of the SoCal Tournament being hosted by Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount this weekend. No. 9 ranked UC Santa Barbara easily defeated visiting Iona College (8-13), 16-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Campus Pool.
