San Marcos wants to celebrate its new all-weather track with a community mini-track meet and 5-kilometer run.The first Royal Races is scheduled for Saturday, Oct.15 at Warkentin Stadium.The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with a 5-k run that will take runners through and around campus. San Marcos senior Elysia Hodges was involved in one the closest races of the day at the CIF Southern Section Divisional track and field finals last Saturday.Hodges, the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Track Athlete of the Year, was edged at the finish in the Division 3 girls 300 hurdles race by San Marino’s Omhunique Browne.
