Local players claim titles at Knowlwood Junior Tournament

Grant honored as Channel League tennis MVP

Chris Grant, the Channel League singles champion, was named the league’s MVP for the 2011 boys tennis season.Grant, a junior, helped the Dons win the league team tennis title with a perfect 8-0 record. Freshman Jared Madison of Dos Pueblos pulled out a tough first-round win over Miles Seemann of  Santa Ynez before being ousted in the second round of the CIF Individual Regional Tournament.Madison played smart and stayed consistent to defeat Seemann 6-1, 6-4. Santa Barbara tennis progressed through the second round of CIF playoffs in dramatic fashion after beating Marina High 10-8 on Friday.The Dons began the day slow, finding themselves  down 1-4 with one match to go in the first round. It was up to Chris Grant to trigger a comeback for Santa Barbara.
