Charger boys take second at Klaus Barth Invitational

The Santa Barbara High swimming team defeated San Marcos 131-54 in the boys meet and 108-75 in the girls meet on Thursday.Highlights for the Dons included Michael Van Wickle's wins in the 200 yard IM (2:11.29) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:03.52). AUBURN, Ala. - Sophomore swimmers Andrea Ward and Sophia Yamauchi completed their event programs on Saturday at the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.Yamauchi, who swam three events during the championships, finished 45th in the 200 breaststroke preliminaries. Royals swimmers torpedo Yellowjackets

San Marcos' swim teams pulled off a sweep of Oxnard on Friday in the Royals' pool. The Royals' boys won 123-60 and the girls 121-62.Royals boys head coach Jeff Ashton liked what he saw in a number of races and noted James Sweeney, Jason Phreaner and Austin Howard for their contributions. Howard's score of 333 won the diving competition and was a CIF qualifying performance. Sweeney was the event-winner in the 100 backstroke and Phreaner won the 500 freestyle. Yamauchi opens NCAA Championships with the 200 IM

Sophomore swimmer Sophia Yamauchi opened competition at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championship on Thursday at Auburn's James E. Martin Aquatics Center.Yamauchi competed in the 200 individual medley, which is the first of three events she will be swimming at the championships.
