Shaffer takes out 3-mile in under an hour

Parrish beats out Williams at CIF finals

Santa Barbara's Lindsay Parrish beat out Dos Pueblos' Emily Rose-Williams by a third of a second in the 50-meter freestyle, good for 3rd place at the CIF Finals meet at Mt. SAC on Friday night.Parrish's time was 23.66 seconds while Rose-Williams' mark of 23.97 was 6th-best in the tight race. Dons break three school records at prelims

Lolo Blair had an outstanding day, breaking Santa Barbara High's school record in the 100 backstroke for fifth place and taking sixth in the 200 free at Wednesday's CIF swimming prelims at Mt. SAC. Fellow USC Trojan-recruit Lindsay Parrish was third in the 50 free and 5th in the 100 butterfly.Karl Boscacci also broke a Dons record in the 500 free and took 11th in the 200 free. Channel League Championships go down at Buena

After the Jesusita Fire forced a late venue change for the Channel League Swim & Dive Championships on Friday, the Dos Pueblos boys still put together a title-worthy meet at Buena High School while the three local girls teams lost out to Buena and Ventura.The Charger boys, who beat out their Don counterparts 355-319 for the title, got an early boost by sweeping the diving competition. Channel League finals set for boys swimmers

Chase Racich, Christian Terpening and Karl Boscacci recorded automatic qualifying times for CIF in the Channel League swim prelims on Wednesday and all qualified for Friday's finals in multiple events. Dos Pueblos' Racich and Terpening dominated the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke respectively while Santa Barbara's Karl Boscacci beat the field by nearly 10 seconds for the victory in the 500 free. Five Dons swim through to CIF at league prelims

Santa Barbara High had five swimmers qualify for CIF in Tuesday's Channel League prelims at San Marcos High.Lolo Blair took first place and qualified in both the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Lindsay Parrish did so in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly.Samantha King made the finals and qualified in the 500 and 100 free, and Camille Wissman was fifth with a qualification time in the 500 free. Chargers, Dons swim much closer than final score

Despite what seemed like an easy victory Friday for the Dos Pueblos swim team, which defeated Santa Barbara 106-64 in the boys event and 111-58 in the girls event, both the Dons and Chargers swam stupendously, setting several personal records and earning CIF consideration times.DP boys head coach Chris Parrish said that the Chargers were able to out-touch the Dons on a number of events, making the meet a much closer win. … [Read more...]

Jade Fitzgerald swam the 50 freestyle in 25.56 seconds Friday, earning the first CIF consideration time standard for a San Marcos swimmer in a decade.The 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams also earned CIF consideration times for the Royals girls, with the 200 squad clocking in at 1:43.76. The Santa Barbara Swim Club (SBSC), traveled to Irvine with 12 swimmers who qualified for the prestigious Grand Challenge meet this past weekend in Irvine. The meet featured record breaking swims by Olympic gold medalist Jason Lezak and a host of top national competitors, including fellow Olympians Ous Mellouli and Chloe Sutton. SBSC came home from the swim meet with 30 personal best times.
