First inning runs hold up for SBCC

Four SBCC pitchers combined on a four-hitter Thursday and the defense was spectacular in a 2-1 nonconference softball victory over L.A. Mission at Pershing Park.The Vaqueros (3-0) scored their runs in the first on RBI singles by Amanda Sharp and Jasmyne Holmes. They had two runners on in the second and fifth frames and loaded the bases in the sixth but couldn't score. Cannons explode in Vaqs’ season-opener

Fueled by the offense of the Cannon twins, SBCC opened its softball season with a 24-run eruption on Saturday in a sweep of Foothill at Pershing Park. The scores were 14-6 and 10-1 and both games were halted after five innings due to the eight-run rule.SBCC jumped ahead 6-0 after three innings of the opener on two-run singles by Lauren Takayesu and pitcher Kailey Snyder. UC Santa Barbara head softball coach Brie Galicinao has signed six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent it was announced this week.
