SBCC teams finish fifth at WSC Championships

Cecilia Instebo took 12th on Tuesday and Ben Garland finished 23rd at the WSC Cross Country Championships in San Luis Obispo, leading the SBCC women and men to Southern Cal Championship berths.The Vaquero teams both placed fifth in the 12-school field. The Dos Pueblos boys finished eighth and the girls placed 14th in their Division 1-2 Individual Sweepstakes races at the Mt. San Antonio Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.Bryan Fernandez led the Charger boys, running 16:00 on the hilly 3-mile course to finish 30th. Ben Garland placed eighth and Omar Padilla ninth on Friday, leading SBCC to a fifth-place finish in the SBCC Cross Country Invitational at Shoreline Park. In the women’s race, the Vaqueros took sixth, paced by Cecilia Instebo (9th) and Kelly Mayer (10th). Garland was clocked in 22:14 and Padilla ran 22:22 on the 4-mile course that started at Leadbetter Beach. Acheampong fastest freshman at Shoreline Park

Cate freshman Jeffrey Acheampong ran the course at the Dos Pueblos Invitational at Shoreline Park in 17:50 to win the freshman boys races and earned one of 11 medals by Cate runners on the day.Each grade level has its own designated race, and the top 20 finishers earn medals.  In the history of the Cate program, no team has ever earned as many medals at a single meet.The team will take time off next week and return to running on October 26th in a league meet at the Ojai Valley … [Read more...]

Bishop Diego’s Charlie Dentzel and the Carpinteria boys made it two in row, capturing the second Frontier League cross country meet at the Carpinteria Bluffs on a hot Wednesday afternoon.Carpinteria, placing three runners in the top five, scored 25 points. Thacher runs away with Condor League race No. 2

Thacher swept the second Condor League cross country on a hot Cate course.The Thacher girls won with 19 points, with Cate finishing in second place with 45 points.The Lady Rams were led by senior Adrian Walsh, who finished fifth in 21:36, her best time of the year on the challenging Cate layout.
