Dos Pueblos boys team, Zerrener qualify for CIF finals

WATCH OUR VIDEO------- Moninda Marube made it two for two in Santa Barbara on Saturday, returning to triumph in his second straight Santa Barbara International Marathon.The Kenyan edged out Michael Wardian, who crossed the finish line less than 10 seconds behind Marube. Rain to affect local sporting events this weekend

Rain in Santa Barbara this weekend will surely affect several sporting events, but KEYT has revised its forecast today to say less rain is expected than before.The threat of rain led SBCC to pre-emptively postpone its annual Holiday Tennis Classic until next weekend. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the field for the National Cross Country Championships and both Westmont men's and women's teams will compete in the event as at-large teams. Westmont teams place 3rd at GSAC Championships

Westmont men's and women's cross country teams each finished third at the 2011 Golden State Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The races were held at Woodward Park in Fresno.On the women's side, the Warriors tallied 87 points, 13 points behind Biola who claimed second place. Azusa Pacific claimed the GSAC Championships, tallying just 20 points. Omar Padilla ran a season-best 21:21 for 47th place on Wednesday and Ben Garland took 50th in 21:23, leading the SBCC men to 14th place in the Southern Cal Cross Country Championships at Rancho Cucamonga.The Vaqueros earned the 14th and final qualifying berth (out of 28 schools) to the State Championships. Bishop Diego’s Charlie Dentzel capped a perfect league season by winning the individual boys title and Carpinteria swept the team crowns at the Frontier League cross country championships in windy and hot Malibu on Wednesday.Dentzel ran 18:03 on a hilly 5-kilometer course.
