Schaeffer wins State Scholar award

Erika Schaeffer, a standout runner on the SBCC cross country and track teams, has been named to the 2011 California Scholar Athlete Honor Roll. Schaeffer had a 3.96 GPA and was one of 11 women to receive the highest student-athlete honor from the California Community College Athletic Association. She finished 13th in the 2010 State Cross Country Championships and was the Southern Cal steeplechase champion in the 2011 track and field season. Zerrenner takes 10th in State

Dos Pueblos sophomore Addi Zerrenner recorded a 10th place finish in the Division II race at CIF's State Championships on Saturday.Zerrenner's time of 18:02 on the Woodward Park course in Fresno bettered her previous time on the same course from October 8th by 15 seconds."She ran a very smart race, and gained momentum with each mile," said head coach Leslie Roth, noting how Zerrenner passed two competitors who had beaten her earlier this season.Zerrenner was the first female runner … [Read more...]

Walsh clocks Cate’s best time at XC finals

Senior captain Adrian Walsh was Cate's top finisher at Saturday's CIF Division V Finals, while the Rams as a group finished 14th.Walsh recorded the seventh-fastest time in Cate's program history on the Mt. SAC course. Her time of 20:53 was 37th overall, leading Cate to its fifth-best showing as a team there.Charlotte Bowles followed in 21:28 with Denali Tietjen at 21:45. Dos Pueblos runners Bryan Fernandez and Addi Zerrenner both finished 11th in their respective Division 2 races, and the Charger boys placed 12th in the team competition at the CIF cross country championships on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College.Competing as an individual, Zerrenner ran the hilly 3-mile course in 17:41. Gaucho men place 10th at West Regionals

STANFORD - The UCSB men's and women's cross country teams both competed in the highly anticipated NCAA Division 1 West Regional's on Saturday at Stanford University. The Gaucho men finished tenth out of twenty-five teams while the women finished nineteenth out of thirty-one teams.Senior Anthony Masci and sophomore Jeremy Acosta finished the 10K race consecutively in 31st and 32nd with the same time, both finishing the race in a time of 30:13. Dos Pueblos boys team, Zerrener qualify for CIF finals
