The Bishop Diego boys basketball team was unable to overcome a 15-point first-quarter deficit at Citrus College against Ribet Academy and lost 79-65.The Cardinals finished the season with a 14-13 overall record after an 8-2 Frontier League finish, which landed them in second place. San Marcos tucked away a 68-54 first-round CIF victory on Wednesday, besting visiting Hawthorne behind a combined 34 points from seniors Thayer White and Cade Ridenour.The result moves the Royals into Friday's Division 3-AA second round and a game at Charter Oak.White was 8-for-10 from the field for 16 points and nine rebounds. Bishop Diego finished its regular season on winning note, routing Villanova Prep 75-42 in a Frontier League boys basketball game Wednesday night at the Brickhouse.The win vaults the Cardinals over the .500 mark as they enter the CIF 5-AA playoffs.
