SBVC: 18-Smack makes semis in San Diego

The Santa Barbara Volleyball Club’s 18-Smack team, competing among the top 16 teams of Southern California, made it to the semi-finals of the Division I bracket and placed third overall at the Mandatory #1 Tournament in San Diego last weekend.After a disappointing loss to Rancho Valley in the first match of pool play, the team rallied back to defeat SCVC and Sunshine VC, taking first in the pool.Moving into playoffs, the team beat Mizuno Long Beach in three games, 18-25, 25-19, 15-9. … [Read more...]

Fullerton full of quarterfinal results

The Fullerton Tennis Patrons hosted its 65th annual designated tournament in February, accepting 1,144 player entries to make it the biggest tournament ever held by them. Santa Barbara and Goleta's girls Under-14 AYSO team, otherwise known as "Team Oswego," claimed the Area 10W championship over President's Day weekend  and will be headed to Palm Beach, Florida this July for the AYSO National Games.Oswego beat all star teams from Carpinteria, Ventura, Santa Paula, Ojai, Oxnard and Camarillo.Oswego won the 10W championship on Valentine's Day in double-overtime. Amidst rain and delays, The Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons hosted its twenty-fifth annual City Tournament on January 22-23rd, drawing top juniors from around the nation and Southern California. The Page Youth Center/Santa Barbara Spikers Boys Volleyball Club finished the Junior National Qualifier with the U-16 team earning a bid for the Open Division for the Junior National Championships in Austin, Texas in July 2010.
