SBVC 15-White, 12-Smack earn shots at Gold Bracket

The Santa Barbara Volleyball Club's 15-White and 12-Smack teams placed first in the second-round qualifying tournaments to advance to the Gold Bracket for the final round of qualifying in the Southern California Volleyball Association.The 15-White team competed in its second qualifying round in the Silver bracket in Huntington Beach and finished 2-1. Marymount captured all three titles at the recent Christian Athletic League basketball tournament held at Bishop Diego High School.A.V. Bennett was named MVP for leading the Marymount varsity past St. Raphael in the championship game. Marymount jumped out to a big lead in the first half and held off the Chargers in the second half to record a 54-41 victory. Mt. SBVC 16-Smack go unbeaten in gold bracket first round

The Santa Barbara Volleyball Club 16s took to the court for Southern California Volleyball Association qualifying round action.The 16-Smack won its Gold Bracket pool and earned a bye for the second qualifying round. Three Santa Barbara Volleyball Club 15s teams opened their seasons in impressive fashion, with two of them earning byes in the second qualifying round in the Gold Bracket and the other going unbeaten in the Silver Bracket.The 15-Smack team steam rolled through its Gold bracket pool on the first round of the qualifying matches at El Camino College. The Santa Barbara Riptide 11u baseball team participated in its first tournament last weekend in Oxnard. The Riptide is comprised of 11 year olds ranging from Santa Barbara to Santa Maria.The Riptide took the field in their first ever contest against the Westlake Stars. The Santa Ynez Heat won the inaugural Maple Bat Tournament.
