Jacinto Barreto had a hand in both San Marcos goals, sending the Royals to a 2-0 victory over Nordhoff in a non-league matchup on Tuesday afternoon.In the opening half, Barreto was pulled down in the penalty area by a Nordhoff defender. DP finishes third in Cabrillo tourney

The Dos Pueblos boys soccer team finished in third place at the Cabrillo Tournament Saturday after two close losses to eventual-champion Santa Maria and second-place Pioneer Valley.In the 1-0 loss to Pioneer Valley, coach Tovi Elasen counted 13 shots on goal for DP and only five for the Panthers, but PV was able to convert one in the 26th minute."We just failed to clear a ball and they put it away... Todd Heil knew he would have a competitive team, but this year's Santa Barbara High boys soccer squad has surpassed the adjective "competitive" after improving to 10-0 with two wins Saturday at the South Torrance Tournament."It's a very pleasant surprise.
