Berlo triples, fans 11 in Royals’ CIF win

San Marcos won its opening CIF wild-card game on Tuesday, topping Covina 4-2 in an eight-inning contest to start the Division 4 tournament.Kristen Berlo struck out 11 batters while scattering five hits to Covina. Gaucho women lose Big West track title by 1/2 point

IRVINE, Calif.--The UCSB women's track and field team put up a hard-faught weekend of competition and came extremely close to winning their first Conference team title in several decades. Dos Pueblos had a number of quality performances at Saturday's Division 2 CIF Prelims at Moorpark College, but none bigger than Stamatia Scarvelis' winning shot put throw.Scarvelis, a sophomore, threw 49 feet, 5.5 inches to win the event with the best throw in the state so far this season.
