Doug Caines, the defensive coordinator for the Santa Barbara High football team, has been named the program’s permanent head football coach.Caines, 29, replaces Jaime Melgoza who resigned two weeks ago for family reasons. In a reminder of how evenly matched the boys tennis teams from Santa Barbara High and Palos Verdes have been this season, the Sea Kings and Dons tied 9-9 once again in Tuesday's CIF Division 1 quarterfinal match.Just like the first time, Palos Verdes tipped the result in its favor with a 79-74 advantage in total games."So we've played them twice now. CIF brackets were released on Monday for baseball and Channel League champion Dos Pueblos and Frontier League champion Bishop Diego are both host opening-round CIF baseball games on Thursday.The Chargers (18-9) take on the winner of a Division 2 wild-card game between Trabuco Hills and Loyola.
