Girls Basketball CIF Draws released

CIF brackets were released for the Southern Section's girls basketball postseason on Sunday.While Dos Pueblos hosts a first-round game in the Division 2-A bracket on Saturday, all other teams begin their postseason run on Thursday.All games are scheduled for 7 p.m. unless to the schools agree upon another time.Santa Barbara, which lost to Dos Pueblos in a league playoff game and qualified as an at-large team as a result, travels to Rio Mesa for a Thursday first-round game. Hedges drops 30, but Lions unable to pull out a victory

Lacey Gonzalez scored on a fastbreak with 33 seconds left and Elizabeth Beebe made a key steal with 10 seconds to go, helping Providence Hall hold off Cate 36-32 in a non-league girl basketball game on Wednesday.A 3-pointer by Cate’s Lanea Pearson to within one point, 33-32. Owls get lots of contributions in rout of Providence Hall

Laguna Blanca used good ball movement and unselfish play to shred Providence Hall’s zone-trap defense and romp to a 79-35 non-league boys basketball win Saturday morning at Westmont College.Five Owls scored in double figures, led by Brandon Bickett’s 21 points. Eaton, Dutcher help Lions snap losing streak

Lizzy Beebe’s clutch shooting from the free-throw enabled Providence Hall to pull out a 36-35 girls basketball win at Thacher in Ojai on Wednesday.Beebe tied the game with a free throw with 12 seconds left. The Lions then fouled and Thacher missed its two free throws.The Lions threw the ball up court to Beebe, who was fouled with four seconds remaining.
