Tiny Westmont takes on classic NCAA programs UCLA, St. John’s

It’s not every day that an NAIA school like Westmont College gets to play basketball games in the mecca of the college basketball world. In fact, it’s never happened.The Warrior men will take on two legendary programs in three days in a pair of exhibitions. On Thursday at 7:30 p.m., they’ll be at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion to face coach Ben Howland and the Bruins. On Saturday, they’ll play at St. John’s in Queens, New York. After ninety-two minutes of a hard-fought, first round GSAC Tournament Women’s Soccer game in Santa Clarita, The Mustang’s Emily Bruton found the back of the net to give fourth-ranked The Master’s (16-2-1) a 1-0 overtime victory over Westmont. Tim Vom Steeg showed up at the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table luncheon on Monday to thank everyone for showing up to Harder Stadium this season.His UCSB men are about to become the first Division I NCAA soccer team to average 5,000 fans per home game in a season, and it will almost surely be over 6,000 after Saturday's contest against UC Riverside. Westmont Women's Soccer battled with the Lions of Vanguard on the final day of the Golden State Athletic Conference season and came away a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods.Jameisha Washington supplied the Warriors' goal in the nineteenth minute. Westmont women's volleyball team completed a sweep of the Golden State Athletic Conference's most southern teams this weekend, defeating San Diego Christian by a score of 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20) on Saturday night in Murchison Gymnasium. Rasp’s dunk kicks off Warriors season

Senior forward Dan Rasp recorded 22 points while senior guard Blake Bender added another 16 points and eight rebounds as the Warriors rolled to an 88-68 win over Cal State Maritime in the season opener for both teams.Dan Rasp scored the first points of the year for the Warriors in dramatic fashion just 30 seconds into the game.
