Warriors bring in five titles at GSAC Championships

Five Warriors won GSAC Championship crowns as Westmont Men's and Women's Track each finished third at the GSAC Track and Field Championships held on Friday and Saturday in Azusa.The finish is the highest for the men since 2006 and for the women since 1999. Warriors perform well in first day of GSAC Championships

The first day of the 2012 Golden State Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships is in the books and Westmont has had several outstanding performances. The event, which is being conducted at Azusa Pacific, will conclude on Saturday.Kristin Hempy had a good first day in the women's heptathlon. The senior bettered her mark in every event over her performance in the Sam Adams Multi-Events at the beginning of April. Warriors advance in Ojai Valley Tournament

Westmont Men's Tennis began competition in the 112th Ojai Valley Tournament on Friday in both singles and doubles competition.Bryan Cox won his first two singles matches to advance to the quarterfinals tomorrow morning. In his first match, Cox, who is seeded at number four, cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jonathan Pollare of Whittier in the Round of 32. Westmont Baseball split to extra innings games with Vanguard (23-19, 13-16 GSAC) on Friday in Costa Mesa and as a result has an opportunity to play for a place in the postseason on the final day of the regular season on Saturday. The Warriors (20-24-1, 11-19 GSAC) lost the first game in 11 innings by a score of 3-2, the won the second in eight innings by a count of 6-3. Warriors set three school records in Fresno

Three new school records were established as Westmont Track and Field competed in a tri-meet at Fresno Pacific on Friday. Westmont women took second place with 110 points. Fresno Pacific was first with 135 points while Biola scored 105 points.
