Bakersfield took advantage of SBCC’s poor shooting and 20 turnovers to post an 83-61 men’s basketball victory on Tuesday in the first round of the Hancock Tournament in Santa Maria.The Vaqueros (3-10) were playing their first game in 18 days. Jessica Domenichelli of SBCC has been named to the first-team All-WSC North women’s soccer squad. Balance and boards were the difference on Sunday as SBCC downed Moorpark 64-49 to capture the title of the Moorpark Classic. After a slow start on Friday, SBCC put on its full-court press and that was lights out for Imperial Valley in a 74-58 women’s basketball victory in the first round of the Moorpark Tournament.The Vaqueros (9-4), ranked 18th in the state, forced 38 turnovers on the way to their fifth win in six games. SBCC used a 7-1 run to take a 75-71 lead with 2:17 remaining in a consolation semifinal of its own men’s basketball tournament on Friday, then went cold down the stretch in a 77-75 loss to county rival Hancock.Jordan O’Byrne put the Bulldogs ahead 76-75 with a 3-pointer at the 1:03 mark.
