SBCC placed third in the Western State Conference Supremacy race for the 2011-12 athletic season.The Vaqueros won WSC titles in men’s soccer, women’s soccer and baseball. It’s the third straight year that Santa Barbara has been in the top three out of 15 schools. Alex Moore, husband of Westmont coach Kirsten Moore, dies
Alex Moore, the husband of Westmont College women’s basketball coach Kirsten Moore, died Wednesday from complications following surgery, the school announced in a press release.Alex Moore, 31, was an assistant professor in kinesiology at Westmont. The couple met at the college in 2005 when Kirsten became the women’s basketball coach. Head coach Mark Basham will take his eighth-ranked Westmont men's tennis team (11-9) to Mobile, Alabama for the third time in as many years. Freshman infielder Jenessa Jeppesen was named the Big West Conference's Player of the Week after a standout performance at the plate this past weekend. SBCC couldn’t do much in Game 2 of the Southern Cal Baseball Regional on Saturday and Rio Hondo did everything in a 12-1 victory at Whittier.The Vaqueros lost the best-of-3 series two games to none.
