The UCSB women’s basketball team signed two top prep players to National Letters of Intent during the fall signing period.The Gauchos added a sharp-shooting guard as well as a powerful forward, both of whom will join the 13-time Big West champs for the 2011-12 season. The men’s and women’s soccer teams of SBCC drew familiar opponents on Tuesday in the opening round of the South Regional state playoffs.The men will face a WSC rival, Hancock, for the second straight year in a first-round matchup. Porter pushes SBCC to WSC title

Allyson Porter had 21 kills, 14 digs and a sterling .581 hitting percentage on Tuesday night as No. 10 SBCC swept Hancock 25-16, 25-15, 25-7 to secure a share of its second straight WSC women’s volleyball title. Bullemer betters score, finishes 10th in state

SBCC’s Nicole Bullemer turned in a 5-over-par 79 on Tuesday to tie for 10th at the State Community College Women’s Golf Championships. Bullemer, a freshman from Dos Pueblos High, posted a 36-hole total of 164 on the north course at Los Serranos CC in Chino Hills.“It was a lot of fun watching Nicole,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “She was rolling her putter well. Greg Scott, one of the highest ranked high school tennis players in California, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at UCSB, head coach Marty Davis announced Tuesday.Scott, a senior at Mira Costa High in Manhattan Beach, is ranked 21st nationally and second in the section in Boys 18s.
