First WSC has Iverson on top of SBCC again

Forrest Iverson carded a 2-over 74 on Monday, leading SBCC to second place in the first WSC men’s golf tournament at Valencia Country Club.Iverson, a freshman from Arcata High in Humboldt County, was playing the course for the first time. He finished third behind medalists Travis Bregman and Jacob Graliezer of Canyons, who both shot 72.Iverson has shot 77, 74 and 74 in his first three collegiate rounds.Canyons won the tourney at 375. Vaughn erupts for 37 at UCSB’s expense

FULLERTON  - Kwame Vaughn scored a career-high 37 points and Cal State Fullerton made school record 17 three-pointers en route to a 99-86 win over visiting UCSB on Saturday night.The 17 three-pointers tied a Gaucho opponent record.Vaughn helped the Titans (15-7 overall, 7-3 in the Big West) overcome a 12-point first half deficit. Shoemake brings SBCC first win

SBCC starting pitcher, Brendon Shoemake, threw six shutout innings to get the win for the Vaqueros.

Brendon Shoemake turned in a masterful pitching performance in the opener on Saturday at Pershing Park, leading SBCC over Cabrillo 5-1 for its first baseball win of the season.In the second game, the Vaqueros (1-2) rallied from an 8-1 deficit and took a 9-8 lead before falling 10-9.Shoemake, a 6-4 freshman from La Canada High, held the Seahawks to one run on three hits over six innings. Matt Winslow had 12 kills on Saturday and Cody Kreitzer added 10 to guide SBCC to a 25-22, 25-21, 25-22 men’s volleyball sweep of Grossmont at the Santa Monica Tournament.In the second match, the Vaqueros sent out a completely different lineup and beat San Diego Mesa 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17). Gaucho seniors leave Campus Pool on high note

On yet another beautiful Saturday at Campus Pool, the UCSB swimming and diving teams closed out their 2011-12 dual meet schedule with a pair of wins over visiting Cal Poly.The men posted a 163-124 victory and improved their record to 6-0, marking the first undefeated dual season in program history. The women, meanwhile, won their fourth straight dual by way of a 169-129 score and finish the year with a 6-3 record. Cal Poly completes season sweep of UCSB

Another tough first half caused the UCSB women's basketball team to try and dig out of a hole and though the Gauchos hung tough with Cal Poly throughout the second half, the first-half deficit was too much as UCSB lost its fourth in a row.The Mustangs used a 15-point lead at the break to win by that same margin, 67-52, on Saturday afternoon at the Thunderdome. Dylan Davis was a force at the net with seven blocks, leading the UCSB men's volleyball team to an upset over No. 8 Pepperdine on Friday night at the Firestone Fieldhouse.
