Wallace named Frontier League’s co-MVP

Carpinteria's Caitlin Wallace was so good this season she was named co-MVP of the Frontier League despite the Warriors' third-place finish.Whitney Shirley, from undefeated league champion Santa Clara, shares the award with Wallace. Runner-up Dons land six on All-League teams

Santa Barbara High's girls basketball team was one win away from capturing a Channel League title this season, finishing with a 6-2 record that included wins over traditional powers Buena and Ventura. Five Dons were named to all-league teams as a result, led by Tess Emerson, Rebecca Griffin and Jackie Kerns on the first team.Buena's Kacie Sowell was named MVP for taking the Bulldogs to a 7-1 record and the league championship. The most successful girls basketball season in Laguna Blanca's school history came to a close on Wednesday night, as the Owls were stopped 50-45 at Merovick Gym by third-seeded Hillcrest Christian in CIF's Division VI-AA quarterfinals. Head coach Ernie Quiroz's Owls finish with a 13-8 record in a season that included a Condor League championship and two playoff wins. Amanda Schulenberg poured in 21 points on Saturday, taking the Laguna Blanca girls basketball team past Hesperia Christian 60-57 in the second round of the Div.
