Cal State Northridge freshman left-hander Jerry Keel again helped the Matadors salvage a weekend series.He did in UC Santa Barbara with six solid innings as CSUN won 4-2 at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.UCSB, which has won its first two Big West Conference weekend series, was trying for a sweep at the hands of the Matadors and certainly had chances throughout Saturday's game. UC Santa Barbara rode an outstanding pitching performance by freshman Andrew Vasquez and a 16-hit attack in the first game and a perfect 5-for-5 game at the plate by third baseman Marc Venning in the second game to a doubleheader sweep of Rhode Island on Friday.The Gauchos (10-9) beat the Rams (6-11) by scores of 13-3 and 13-7.In game one, Vasquez (3-1) tossed 7.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out a career-high.
